    What exactly is a translucent stone panel—and how does it work?

    STONOVIA’s translucent stone panels are made by peeling ultra-thin layers from natural stone blocks. Each sheet is reinforced with a polyester resin backing, which allows light to pass through the stone and creates a beautiful glowing effect when backlit. The result is a semi-translucent natural surface that reveals the unique veins, colors, and textures of real stone.

    How do I install the Translucent Stone Panels?

    Before installation, please note: the textured side is the front (facing outward),while the glossy resin side is the back (to be mounted against a clear backer). Installation is simple and efficient. Just allow for:

    • A clear cavity or spacing of at least 1.25″ behind the panel to accommodate the light source,
    • A clear backer, such as acrylic or tempered glass,
    • Recommended adhesive suited for translucent stone and resin bonding,
    • Even placement of LED Flex Sheets for consistent illumination.

    What adhesive and backing materials should I use for installation?

    We recommend using Soudal® Crystal Clear Sealant, a transparent, flexible, and UV-stable adhesive ideal for bonding translucent panels without visible glue lines.Compatible backing materials include:

    • Acrylic or Plexiglass – lightweight, clear, and easy to install
    • Lexan (polycarbonate) – highly impact-resistant
    • Tempered Glass – scratch-resistant and ideal for permanent or high-end installations

    What lighting and control options are available for backlighting the panels?

    STONOVIA offers LED Flex Sheets that deliver bright, evenly distributed backlighting with adjustable brightness and color temperature. These sheets are thin, flexible, and easy to install behind translucent panels.To customize the lighting experience, we also provide:

    • V2-X LED Controller – for smooth dimming, on/off control, and stable power regulation
    • RT2 Color Temperature Remote – allows you to adjust light warmth or coolness, creating the perfect ambiance and enhancing the stone’s natural tones

    What are recommended cutting tools?

    • Long Cut Snip – for smaller or flexible trim sections
    • Circular Saw – with a fine-tooth blade for clean straight cuts
    • Track Saw – for precise, straight-edge cuts

    Can the panels be used in wet or outdoor areas?

    Yes. The panels themselves are moisture- and UV-resistant, making them suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and even outdoor applications—as long as they are installed with proper waterproof backers and sealing.

    However, if used in wet zones or exterior environments, please be aware that our standard LED Flex Sheets (IP20 rating) are for indoor use only and are not waterproof. In such cases, we recommend sourcing IP65+ rated waterproof lighting systems from a qualified vendor to ensure safety and durability.
